LIFEWTR. Let Creativity Flow
Series 1: Art Beyond Borders
Art is a universal language. LIFEWTR’s Art Beyond Borders series will showcase artists whose work is influenced not only by their own, but also by other cultures.
All of the artists in this LIFEWTR series share an ability to transcend borders through their work and in their lives. When an artist works between and across cultures, they bring something of themselves and their experience, and they absorb some of the new – they embrace the intersections.
Each of these LIFEWTR artists is engaged in a dialogue beyond borders.

Basmah takes inspiration from Islamic patters and explores spiritual ideas. She works between paper, canvas, silkscreen, copper and Plexiglas - all the materials that are either white, black or reflective.
Basmah received her MFA in London and is a global traveler representing the Islamic art scene; her work has been shown internationally.
Exhibitions / Commissions:
- Current residency with KAEC from July —September; commissioned to create public sculpture
- Work shown at Art Dubai, March 2018

- Currently working and researching towards solo show in 2019 at Athr

I use Islamic patterns and calligraphy as the main way to manifest ideas. My design for LIFEWTR is about the words “life” and “water,”, and the relationship between water, the moon and us.
