Andrew Benson

Andrew Benson’s work combines a classic painter’s approach with digital art. From his Los Angeles-based studio, Andrew works mostly with digital video, web technologies, animated-pieces and custom-made software and electronic devices, all while utilizing a painter's use of color and form.

A teacher at San Francisco Art Institute, Andrew’s work has been shown internationally at screenings, festivals, museums, and galleries both on and offline. Shifting between fine art and performances, his career includes numerous collaborations with musical acts through videos, software and live visuals, most recently for Clipping and Aphex Twin.

• Video director and live visuals operator for Coachella, Street Scene, and Outside Lands festival
• Developed visuals and live FX for Aphex Twin, M.I.A., Simian Mobile Disco, Miley Cyrus, Grandmaster Flash
• Live performances/projections at VIA Festival, Moogfest, Coachella, ArtPad SF, Southern Exposure SF, Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive
