Series 1
Athier

Athier is a Paris-based artist – he’s Iraqi from origin and grew up in London, where his father worked as an architect and his mother as a painter. His work is influenced by architecture, cubism, Iraqi modernism as well by his fascination for Arabic texts and wall carvings and Iraqi modernism. Using a vibrant range of colors and geometry, Athier’s canvases feature meaningful symbols and elements – such as the eagle and flags – that address Arabic heritage and contemporary themes.
Athier’s energetic paintings reflect both the past and the present, reflecting the artist’s roots and contemporary surroundings.
